Goshu Ramen Tei

Yey Tammy came back from her honeymoon and supposedly Vietnam was cold and so was Korea weird.

Anyway so we deicded to have lunch togehter and where better than Goshu Ramen Tei for our usual Japanese. Tammy and I used to go to Goshu Ramen Tei Quite abit when we used to work together. Luckily even at 1pm it wasnt chockers like it usually is.

Tammy decided on the Karaage Box with agedashi tofu, rice, salad and Miso soup where I got the same but with teriyaki chicken.

Service was quite slow but friendly and meals are large and value for money. Tammy ended up shouting me lunch (she's the best).

My oh My

Ok there has been so much on this month and its meant both Eddie and I are flat BROKE, maxed out....completely empty... and I dont get paid for another 2 weeks or so!!! *cries* We have been eating to much crap lately and spending money on take out and dinners so I needed to create something healthy and cheap! I succeeded.

I was craving Rich's lamb salad but I really wanted roasted vegies so after the gym, I went to Broadway and bought some vegies (parsnips, pumpkin, carrots), salad greens and also 2 lamb backstraps.

It was all pretty easy to put together the only bit I hated is the cutting of the pumpkin grrr I hate it.

Roasted Vegies

My lamb backstraps restingAssemble!

couple with salad green and mushrooms...yummmm

Ive Also coated some chicken breasts with moroccan spices and set aside some vegies so yey Chicken and vegies for lunch tomorrow.

Katies 26th Birthday

Katie Turned 26! I thought she was turning 25 she looks so young! Pretty simple affair, snacks and Wii which made for a great night.

What was on offer was a spread created by nibbles brought by everyone and supplied by Katie herself.
Arghh Katie made really good curry puff, but no pics, we also had cake... no pics!!

In additon to this was endless sweating over Wii Sports, Wii Wario Ware and others!! I think that Wii has to bring on better games for me to want to buy it...its ok but not great.

Yes its sweet capsicum philly but my god, i love this stuff!

Lazy Nights

Ahh It didnt feel like a Thursday it felt like Friday only difference being that I had a pole class and yes bruises have successfully appeared Ouch! YEY long weekend HAPPY AUSTRALIA DAY!!

Being so tired I couldnt be bothered to cook nor did we really have anything in the fridge (i really need to go shopping) however my brother being around has meant that I really havent had a chance to.

We decided on a cheap dinner of Asian King from Glebe. I used to always walk passed this place and think it looked quite suss however we were really hungry a couple of weekes ago and decided to get something from there it ended up being cheap and surprisingly good.

So being starving I placed an order for Salt and Spicy Tofu and Beef Chow mein (my order only, Eddie and Tony got other things).

The noodles were abit soft i had expected them to be crispier. The tofu however we crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside and as well as that the salt and spicy coating was totally full of flavour! I was so happy and you get ALOT.

There was also deep fried Dim Sims but i didnt have any of those.

Salt and Spicy Tofu - $7.90

Beef Chow Mein - $7.80

Fried Dim Sims (Oily and stale prawn crackers) - $4.50

I have left overs mmmmmmm

Ichiban Boshi (Galeries Victoria)

Ah what can I say, I had one of the worst days today, so depressed over the events that occurred, and work wasnt making it any easier. In comes Tania, calling me as she is in town for interviews and wants lunch, its so welcome and I need cheering up. After a mix up of where we were meeting I run in heels to Ichiban Boshi for some ramen...comfort food.

I arrive to my ramen and tea already ordered and sitting on the table...yessssss.

I got the Shio Butter Corn Ramen while Tania got the Vegetable Ramen, so warm and filling I start forgetting all my worries and taking in the slippery noodles the plump corn and the butter...i love butter so much, i wish there was more of it! The one slice of pork could have easily been left out as I didnt enjoy that bit very much. Tania seemed to be enjoying her ramen greatly although there was an excess amount of bean sprouts so she was fishing to the bitter end to find every last string of noodle.

It was good that we came here later at 2 pm as there were no lines and we didnt have to share a table...yesss!!!

Cafe Otto

Sunday - an Absolute Scorcher, Im tired, Im hot, my feet hurt (new shoes) and im STARVING!!

OK where can I take Tony that offeres a range of everything? Absolutely everything..found it Cafe Otto's.

We bothed ordered Breakfasts, I got the Corn and Capsicum Fritters with Bacon and tomato relish while Tone ordered the big Breakfast without Beans (pfft he is so missing out). As well as that, to get us to wake up over the bad sleep we had in the heat we got two coffees.
OK in all honesty I was kind of expecting a Bills Type Corn Fritter so when my dish arrived I was alittle disappointed but when i tasted abit of it, it was actually really nice and light but full of flavour. Tony's Big Breakfast looked really good, I was jelaous of his poached eggs as I was craving that but decided against it in the end, maybe i should have ordered a side.

Tonight we all had a pie with Chips - Healthy eating Tomorrow!!!!

Newtons Cocina

I love this place! Not completely old school, not completely modern, a little from column A a little from Column B.

This has always been a favourite and I was really excited to introduce Tone to this place. The only issue was even pushing the booking back to 9pm we were still pretty stuffed so it was hard to truly appreicate the Newtons like we usually do.

On every visit you get a complimentary Chilli shot - Yuk not my thing, the first and last time i tried this i woke up in the worst rash on my face and had to go to the docs :(

Chilli Shot - Consume at your own Risk!!

I ordered Frozen Strawberry Daquiris for Tone and I while Eddie was soft and drank Solo. Tone wasnt fond of the Daquiri but i thought it was delish!

Frozen Strawberry Daquiri

For starters we got Chimichanges filled with potato and cheese with a sweet basil type sauce. Conveniently it came in 3 so we all got to grab one of these light flavoursome pillows for ourselves.

Chimichangas filled with potato and cheese

Then for mains I ordered the Vegetariano, I love this even with no meat it is so good...deep fried tortilla with whole roasted garlic in mashed potato with jalepeno cheese sauce and salad with cargrilled lemon.

Vegeteriano - I tried so hard to get a good pic but look at it is a deep fried tube with potato and cheese oozing out

Tony and Eddie both got a Quasedilla filled with Chorizo and garlic mash, this also came with mexican rice and salad. I have ahd this before, it is a favourite.

Quasedilla with Chorizo and Garlic Mash

You leave Newtons filling so satisfied (this particualr night, we all kind of felt partly satisfied partly about to puke our guts up from eating so much) but overall happy.

Yee King Fresh - Haymarket

I am utterly stuffed just thinking about what I have eaten this weekend.

My brother Tony is staying over and considering its the first time he has ever paid a visit I have been the over excited sister with money (ok thats a lie im shit broke now) to burn on satisfying food.

Tony is the traditional asian food lover he likes to go to all the little joints in China Town that offer cheap absolutely delicious meals, I love when he visits because I always discover something new, Im ashamed to say i never go to China Town but i think i will make much more of an effort from now on.

First Stop Yee King in Haymarket. Tony and I have been talking about places that we have enjoyed in China Town for different reasons and little did we know we were talking about the same place!

Yee King may not offer comfy seats and welcome smiles but they offer very large absolutely delicious Northern Chinese meals at such a low price!

Tony recommended the Pork ribs with shallots and chilli which is wrapped in foil as well as Beef noodles in XO sauce, I then added my bit which was pork and buk choi dumplings.

The meals came out very quickly but obvisouly i had to make the boys wait til i took my pics!

Pork Spare Ribs with shallots and Chilli...words can not explain...

The pork was melt in your mouth soft, Eddie was able to tear at the meal with a spoon to seperate it all.

Pork and Buk Choi Dumplings

The dumplings were light and tasty but you get 12 for about $6, we were stuffed.

Beef Noodles in XO sauce

The noodles while delicious were quite plain, so i didnt eat much of this and also i had filled up too much on pork, rice and dumplings.

I was trying to convince the guys to get the Pekingnese Noodle with meat sauce but they werent interested, that will be for next time.

Overall I love this place, im coming back again, I love quiet, fast and unintruding service in additon to great food, you've got yourself a winner!

Ok more pics, we saw these prawn and octopus balls a.k.a Takoyaki (thanks Chocolate Suze) ok I dont eat seafood but they looked interesting.

Prawn Balls
These little cakes looked so good but i was so stuffed i couldnt do it, and when i tried, Eddie tore the note out of my hand and told me not to be silly. So next time.

Guzman Y Gomez

OK im sitting here at my computer and never have I felt so satisfied with my meal. Im at the peak of fullness with a great taste of my mexican just lingering in my mouth.

So Pole dancing (classes no im not a professional) usually leaves me with little time to make food so its usually our eating out night (like every other night) tonight i decided to shout Eddie some good Mexican.

Having only had a chance to go to Guzman Y Gomez once before (and loving it) we decided to grab some take out from there again.

Its 8:30 on a Thursday night, parking in Newtown is a shocker and the crowd inside is enormous with a line almost spilling out to the path, with this sight Eddie suggest bugerfeul, Burgerlicious, anything but I was determined to stay because my cravings were strong. Luckily the line although long moved very fast and we were soon at the front of the line.

I ordered the 2 tacos deal for $7.90 one for a filling of D.F Steak and Onions and the other with Beef Zacatecas both with Pico De Gallo - Medium Hot Salsa, Eddie wanted Quesadillas (2 pack as well) 1 with Grilled Mushrooms and the other with D.F Steak and Onions both with Roasted Tomato (mild) salsa ($7.30), being absolutely starving i also ordered Sofrito Rice (2.80) and chips and salsa ($6.50).

My Beef Zacatecas Taco with Pico De Gallo Salsa

Sofrito Rice

Both the Tacos and Quesadilla come wrapped tightly in foil with funky colour coded stickers for different menu choices. The tacos were delicious and chock full of meat and veg (beans) inside soft tortillas, I was stuffed but I made sure i left room for the chips and fresh salsa (I ate tomatos!!!! this is a big deal for me) and rice. Eddies Quesadilla were pretty small and i dont think 2 of those would have satisfied me (im expecting him to go get some maccas tonight) but he also agreed that it was all delicious, even eating rice which he doesnt usually do.

Salsa and Sofrito Rice

Eddies Half eaten Steack and Onion Quesadilla with Roasted Tomato Salsa on top (I tried to get in before he took a bite but alas!)

Chips and Salsa YUMM

Last time we visited Guzman Y Gomez we ordered Burritos, they are huge, I couldnt even finish mine and thats saying alot!

This place is truly a new fave and i will make sure i head back there very soon...

Royal Exchange Hotel - Marrickville

My boy is a fan of the Soccer, locally he follows Sydney FC, Marc, Vis boyf, also a big fan a VERY Big fan, they once won tickets to see Sydney in Japan we even saw them on TV looking miserable because it was cold and Sydney were losing.

Sunday it was Sydney vs. Adelaide...Sydney lost :( but we won with a cheap and tasy meal at the Royal Exchange Hotel in Marrickville
As we werent overly hungry (ok i wasnt hungry but Vi was starving and the guys didnt care because the game was one) we thought we would start with something small boy were we wrong.

We ordered garlic pizza, a trio of dips and two items of the tapas menu which were Madrid Meatballs and Mushrooms with Lemon and Garlic (on special $10 for Sundays).

Vi and Marc have spoken about the Royal Exchange and how much they like the value for money and the food is always good and they werent wrong. I was wary of the meatballs because I have had good meatballs and then some not so good...these were good! The sauce was plentiful but not overwhleming whiles there were around 6 meatballs enough to go around. The mushrooms were also amazing, there were so many they we couldnt even finish them and the lemon garlic sauce on top was so good for after meal dipping with toasted bread rolls YUM!

The Pizza was also really really surprising as I dont like thick bases but this was cripy on the outside and supersoft (not soggy) on the inside, delicious. As I have been gorging on Dips for the last two days I didnt have the trio of dips but its was appetising!
In the end while we had planned for dinner to follow we were all so stuffed we couldnt eat anymore!....until i got home and had more dip :)

Trio of Dips - what dips? I dont know but i think it was Tzitiki, Sun Dried Tomatos and Eggplant...I think

BBQ Time

As Mai is leaving to go back to France after her 4 months stint here Richard invited myself, Eddie, Mai and her friend to his for a BBQ open Saturday.

It was a slightly cloudy day but didnt ruin the BBQ cravings we all had.
As Rich's is on a diet of which he has lost 10Kgs he hosted a very healthy spread of homemade Roasted Pumpkin Dip, Mango and Chilli Salsa as well as cream cheese and olives to start off with. We also immediately tucked into the wine!

What was on offer was a moroccan lamb salad which was delicious as well as an amazing beef salad with roasted vegetables.

Beef Salad I loved this so much!

Mai brought over an Apple cake and crepes, they were so good, but i couldnt move to get my camera and take pics....also i was enjoying my nutella crepes to much :)

BurgerFuel - Love it

What can I say? I love this place so much along with the large variety of Burgers they offer normal fries or kmara fries(yum) with aioli as well as normal milk or Soy Milkshakes which im desperate to try but havent yet as well as dessert and delicious and refreshing sparkling drinks.

Eddie and I have been visiting this new New Zealand born burger joint on a regular basis since its opening, its been a couple of months now and the service is still really good although on the opening night the service was spectacular, to the point the next day i wrote to all my friends telling them they just HAD to go there!

Trying most of the bugers that have already tickled my fancy today I decided on the 'V Twin Vege' which is a Mushroom, kumara, chickpea and basil pattie with melted chedder, plum sauce, salad, relish and aioli (i love aioli) this was really good for a vegie buger and not dry like many of its counterparts.

Eddie had the special which is a burger creation created by BurgerFuel and is not on the menu this one featured chicken with basil pesto, salad, chedder, aioli and probably other things that we have forgotten as we were too eager to bring home and eat.
We also got the regular side which is kumara fries which comes with aioli as well as myself getting a delicious cranberry and lime drink which also had apple and grape as well, it was so good!

Another thing I need to mention is for a franchised burger place, these burgers are massive, you even get these cardboard things called 'doofers' which you assemble then place your burgers in to make sure nothing falls out from the other end, ingenious!

Each of our burgers is packed in its own labelled paper bag
