Valentines 2007 - Spanish Tapas Glebe

Happy Valentines Day!
Eddie and I decided to go somewhere comfortable, affordable and somewhere we had never been before and thus at the last minute decided on Spanish Tapas on Glebe Point Road Glebe.
We arrived on time (for our 7:30 booking) and was shown how to get to the courtyard...then was told to find our own table. Ok not bad I mean one half of me is thinking 'show us to our table dammit' the other is thinking 'atleast we get to sit where we want'.

Our menus came quickly and after deliberating for a short time we made our decision: -
Patatas al ajillo (potatoes in garlic sauce)
ChampiƱones al ajillo (garlic mushrooms)
Albondigas a la espaƱola (meatballs cooked in tomato sauce)
Pincho moruno (marinated lamb skewers)
Traditional Spanish Salad
Herb Bread

plus a glass of sangria just to get me into the valentines Spanish spirit!

The meals came out surprisingly fast actually, and the waiter who was serving us was fantastic, really friendly and we were quite pleased and we definately ordered the right amount to the point we couldnt finish the mushrooms to much deep fried crumby goodness.

Sangria Me!!! $5.00

Traditional Spanish Salad $9.00

Herb Bread $4.00

Golden Crumbed Mushrooms $11.50

Marinated Lamb Skewers $11.50

Garlic Potatos $9.50

Meatballs $11.50

And this is where is gets abit loose. After we finished our meals I asked the the waitress if there was a dessert menu to which she said loudly 'HUH' I kind of moved my head back and said a little louder 'is there a dessert menu' Eddie laughed because he could see how shocked i was not in a bad way i was just caught off gaurd. I decided on Churros con Chocolate quoted on the menu as: -
“Churros” are finger-like pastries coated in sugar and cinnamon. Traditionally they are served with “chocolate”, a smooth rich hot chocolate in which the churros are dipped. “Churros con Chocolate” is a favourite for many Spaniards after a long night out.

Yummo i couldnt wait...I got the waitress's attention and ordered the churros to which she asked 'And den?' like that movie...Dude wheres my Car...it was freakin hilarious! Then i waited.....and waited ....and waited....finally Eddie asked for the Bill thinking she may have forgotten to put the order in but when we got the bill the Churros were there so we decided to wait. The waitress came and went to take our bill to whhich i said 'im just waiting on the churros' and she looked startled and said 'oh your churros' and ran off then i waited and waited then she came back and cleaned a table and while walking down the stairs said 'i will go check on your churros'. finally she came...with CHURROS YEY. They were hot and delicious maybe not worth the wait but still they were good.

Overall it was a good night I just might not get dessert again.

Churros con Chocolate $8.50 mmm

It's a shame you had to wait so long for your churros. I love them, but after being put through all that it makes you think if they are really worth it.
If you are willing to have another churros experience, you can try them at Sangria on Darling St, Balmain. And they won't make you wait half as long. : )

Hi Khemany, this is Joann from HK, your IDT ex-colleagues, haha! Your dinner on Valentine's day seems very nice!! I also like Spanish food like Nachos with cheese, which is super delicious! Anyway, tomorrow is the First day of our Chinese New Year, this year is the year of the Pig (umm.....i dont' know how to explain it, maybe you can ask if your mum can explain to you, haha), i wish you all the best, have a healthy and prosperous New Year!!!
