Newtown Thai III

Want a cheap fast filling satisfying meal on a weekday with only an hour to spare in the CBD??? Newtown Thai III is your answer. Knowing what Newtown Thai I and II have brought us meant that we were not afraid to jump right on board the Thai III bus and boy was I happy with that. Met up with rod at Wynyard station and hopped on for one stop to TownHall (how convenient). Took a while to make my decision but the speed of which we got our meals is pretty amazing. Both Rod and I got Chilli Basil mine with Chicken his with Tofu and Vegies.

If I wasnt going to a new Job soon that is too far to get to the Pavillion I would be here every week!

Oh did I mention its $6!!! and huge!

Vegetarian Weekend - Tofu House

So Chinese New Year the actual Sunday we are not meant to eat meat nor dairy products so bascially we are vegan for the day! As Chinese New Year Day means you can do any work like cleaning or cooking I tool my family out for lunch.

All the vegetarian places in Cabramatta were chockers but we were able to stumble into one in an alley way that only had a few patrons. Looking at it, the place looked new and as it is in a alleyway not very popular or known.

My mum ordered a noodle dish with tofu and I had a taste, it was slightly sweet, salty and sour-y all in one, it was really good. My dad, brother and myself ordered stir fried noddles with vegies, tofu and fake meat, this was SO good, so unbelieveably good, there was this slight curry flavour ot it but very light. We also ordered some spring rolls. YUM i would definately go back.

Goshu Ramen Tei

Yey Tammy came back from her honeymoon and supposedly Vietnam was cold and so was Korea weird.

Anyway so we deicded to have lunch togehter and where better than Goshu Ramen Tei for our usual Japanese. Tammy and I used to go to Goshu Ramen Tei Quite abit when we used to work together. Luckily even at 1pm it wasnt chockers like it usually is.

Tammy decided on the Karaage Box with agedashi tofu, rice, salad and Miso soup where I got the same but with teriyaki chicken.

Service was quite slow but friendly and meals are large and value for money. Tammy ended up shouting me lunch (she's the best).

Ichiban Boshi (Galeries Victoria)

Ah what can I say, I had one of the worst days today, so depressed over the events that occurred, and work wasnt making it any easier. In comes Tania, calling me as she is in town for interviews and wants lunch, its so welcome and I need cheering up. After a mix up of where we were meeting I run in heels to Ichiban Boshi for some ramen...comfort food.

I arrive to my ramen and tea already ordered and sitting on the table...yessssss.

I got the Shio Butter Corn Ramen while Tania got the Vegetable Ramen, so warm and filling I start forgetting all my worries and taking in the slippery noodles the plump corn and the butter...i love butter so much, i wish there was more of it! The one slice of pork could have easily been left out as I didnt enjoy that bit very much. Tania seemed to be enjoying her ramen greatly although there was an excess amount of bean sprouts so she was fishing to the bitter end to find every last string of noodle.

It was good that we came here later at 2 pm as there were no lines and we didnt have to share a table...yesss!!!

Yee King Fresh - Haymarket

I am utterly stuffed just thinking about what I have eaten this weekend.

My brother Tony is staying over and considering its the first time he has ever paid a visit I have been the over excited sister with money (ok thats a lie im shit broke now) to burn on satisfying food.

Tony is the traditional asian food lover he likes to go to all the little joints in China Town that offer cheap absolutely delicious meals, I love when he visits because I always discover something new, Im ashamed to say i never go to China Town but i think i will make much more of an effort from now on.

First Stop Yee King in Haymarket. Tony and I have been talking about places that we have enjoyed in China Town for different reasons and little did we know we were talking about the same place!

Yee King may not offer comfy seats and welcome smiles but they offer very large absolutely delicious Northern Chinese meals at such a low price!

Tony recommended the Pork ribs with shallots and chilli which is wrapped in foil as well as Beef noodles in XO sauce, I then added my bit which was pork and buk choi dumplings.

The meals came out very quickly but obvisouly i had to make the boys wait til i took my pics!

Pork Spare Ribs with shallots and Chilli...words can not explain...

The pork was melt in your mouth soft, Eddie was able to tear at the meal with a spoon to seperate it all.

Pork and Buk Choi Dumplings

The dumplings were light and tasty but you get 12 for about $6, we were stuffed.

Beef Noodles in XO sauce

The noodles while delicious were quite plain, so i didnt eat much of this and also i had filled up too much on pork, rice and dumplings.

I was trying to convince the guys to get the Pekingnese Noodle with meat sauce but they werent interested, that will be for next time.

Overall I love this place, im coming back again, I love quiet, fast and unintruding service in additon to great food, you've got yourself a winner!

Ok more pics, we saw these prawn and octopus balls a.k.a Takoyaki (thanks Chocolate Suze) ok I dont eat seafood but they looked interesting.

Prawn Balls
These little cakes looked so good but i was so stuffed i couldnt do it, and when i tried, Eddie tore the note out of my hand and told me not to be silly. So next time.

Good Old Days

Ok so whenever I visit my parents i always drag them to Cabramatta, who would have thought this place I used to think was stinky and dirty is one of my most favouritist places to go to get great woks and steamers as well as asian sauces etc for cheap!

As well as that where are you going to get stir fried noodles etc for $6-$8! Cheap and unbelieveably authentic and delicious!

We go to our usual place Pho Minh not for Beef Pho (which is great as well) but for the stir fried noodles (for the family) and special rice with pork, egg and other pork things for me. This place never fails to disappoint, seriously.

El Bahsa - Newtown

Going to Newtown and cravings Campos but having no time we ended up at El Bahsa craving large amounts of satisfying food and that they delivered.

I started off with the Semi Dried Tomato Bruschetta (which i didnt take a pic of because i got over excited and was starving)

Next was the Chicken Ceaser salad ($14.90) which was simple but so fulling. Honestly after the two piece of Bruschetta i was left struggling with the salad but the chicken was cooked well, the lettuce was still crisp and the dressing was not overwhleming.

Eddie had the lamb backstrap burger ($11.90)

Rod had chips and a felafel roll which looks kinda lonely on the plate but for $6.90 you cant really argue with that.

Throw in a soy latte and I am a happy camper!
